1. Taroko Gorge Tour
一日太魯閣旅遊
Taroko (Marble) Gorge 太魯閣峽谷: Taroko became a national park in 1986, including Hualien County, Nantou County, and Taichung City. Taroko is famous for its spectacular mountains and marble canyons. Cliffs and canyons stretch along the Liwu River. Four million years ago, the island of Taiwan was formed by the collision of plates. After millions of years of wind erosion, the marble rocks were exposed and cut by Liwu River, creating impressive grand canyons. From Qingshui to Nanhu Peak, the drop height is 3,742 meters. Such special geography has also bred special flora and fauna in this area.
Shakadang Trail 砂卡噹步道: is also known as "Mysterious Valley Trail" and was renamed to "Shakadang Trail" in 2001. This trail is built along the river cliff so travelers can easily observe both the rock folds and plant ecosystems beside the river valley.
Changchun Temple 長春祠: which commemorates the 226 personnel (military veterans) who died during the construction of the Central Cross-Island Highway (1956~1960).
Swallow Caves 燕子口: Following the Central Cross-Island Highway, at Swallow Grotto, the rock cliffs of the Liwu River gorge seem to reach to heaven while the river runs its swiftest and the distance between the gorge walls so narrow that they almost seem to touch each other. Along the Swallow Grotto trail which runs about a half kilometer starting from the entrance to Swallow Grotto to the Jinheng Bridge, you can enjoy the sights of the Liwu River from nearly straight above the water, the potholes on the cliff faces, the springs sprinkled along with the lower parts of the walls, as well as the famous rock formation "Chieftain's profile rock".
Tianxiang 天祥: is a large river terrace recreational area in Taroko National Park. Dasha River and Taci Jili River converge at Tianxiang to become Liwu River.
Qixing Lake 七星潭: Qixing Lake is located in Beipu Village, Xincheng Township, in the northeast of Hualien City. Visitors can get there via Meilun Industrial Park by following the signs in front of the National Hualien University of Education. The beach there has an elegant arch shape. The seawater there is clean and blue. The black stones there is crystal. From here visitors can see the great green mountains afar and the twisting highways. The Qixing Lake Scenic Area is designated for bicycle touring. Along the 21km tour from Nanbin Park in Hualien City to the scenic area via Hualien Harbor and the 48 Highlands, there are different views and scenes. The Hualien County Government even built a number of recreational facilities, such as the Stone Sculpture Park, the Star Watching Plaza, the Sunrise Building, and the children's playground.
Hualien Stone Sculptural Park 花蓮石雕公園: is the first stone sculpture-themed museum in Taiwan. The various kinds of stone sculpture activities held on a regular basis by the Hualien City Government have made the museum a well-known cultural tourist attraction and a place for recreational activities.
